Penni Ludwig splits her time between Sag Harbor, NY and Venice Beach,CA. In Sag Harbor Penni is an on-call wildlife rescuer for the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center and established and co-manages a satellite dog shelter in Venice beach which rescues dogs from the Los Angeles kill shelters. As her commitment to animals and conservation grew across the globe, Penni has worked with Charity Water in Sierra Leone to build fresh water wells and hygiene stations and the World Heritage Foundation in India to fund women's and children's charities and the restoration of World Unesco Heritage sites. Penni received the Veterinarian's International Presidential Award for her work with Asian elephants in establishing the first mobile veterinary elephant clinic in Surin, Thailand. In 2016 Penni joined the efforts of African Parks by supporting the reintroduction of lions in Rwanda and the translocation of African Elephants in Malawi. Penni has degrees in Cooking and Pastry and received her BA from George Washington University and her MS in Pediatric Occupational Therapy from Columbia University. When not traveling with different charities and organizations Penni enjoys adventure-sports travel and motor-cross and working in her gold-smithing studio making jewelry.
