Michael Thamala

Michael is the Funding & Reporting Manager at Majete Wildlife Reserve. Raised in the national parks and wildlife reserves of Malawi, he has a lifelong connection to conservation. He holds a BSc in Environmental Studies from the Catholic University of Malawi and has received accolades for his work in conservation. Since joining African Parks in 2021, Michael has worked across several departments at Majete, including Community Development and Conservation, and later served as Conservation Lead. Prior to this, he was active in grassroots environmental advocacy, working with local communities to tackle climate change and deforestation. His diverse experience has given him a strong understanding of Majete’s operations and a deep commitment to protecting Malawi’s natural heritage.
