El first visited Liwonde National Park in 2013 as a tourist, returned as a volunteer in 2016, and started working in the park in 2021. She holds an MRes in Biological Sciences and has led research projects across Malawi focussed on multiple large carnivore species, as well as pangolins and vultures. El’s role as Conservation and Research Manager encompasses protecting the contrasting habitats of Liwonde National Park and Mangochi Forest Reserve, monitoring wildlife populations, and managing them for sustainability.
