General Information
Camp Salamat is situated on a beautiful section of the Salamat River, downstream from Tinga Camp. The camp's primary purpose is to offer free accommodation to Chadians who would like to visit Zakouma National Park. It is also used as part of the park's outreach programmes, when day-long visits are organised during the season to bring children, students and local villagers from Zakouma's surrounding communities to visit the park. The camp consists of a thatched kitchen with a lockable storeroom and solar fridge for guests' use during their stay, as well as a thatched dining area with tables and chairs. There are 10 locally designed thatched rooms for visitors to stay in.
Visiting the parks is one of the best ways to support conservation, communities, and the long-term future of these wild areas.
