Running for Rhinos

We're Running for Rhinos: Donate Today

Our Park Manager for Liwonde National Park in Malawi, Craig Reid, is running for the rhinos within the park for the upcoming London Marathon. Rhinos are one of the most threatened species on the planet and are heavily targeted by poachers for the sale of their horns, which are made up of nothing more than keratin (the same protein found in our hair and nails), and fetch up to $60,000 USD per kilogram – making it the most expensive product on the planet, and driving this species towards extinction.

That’s why Craig is running this race to increase awareness and help raise needed funds for the rhinos under his care in Liwonde National Park. Every dollar counts and goes down to the ground where it’s needed most. Please consider any level of donation where:

  • $50 covers the costs of one pair of boots for a ranger, who need at least two pairs per year, and Liwonde has over 40 rangers and growing
  • $250 covers the salary of one specially trained rhino ranger for a month
  • $350 provides two-months of critically important training for one ranger
  • $700 covers the costs of affixing a tracking device to monitor a rhino at all times
  • $1,000 provides for an hour and a half of flying time for the security helicopter, which is one of the best defences against poacher

Every dollar counts and goes to helping secure Liwonde for rhinos to have a brighter future.

Help support Craig’s London Marathon Fundraiser, with a target of £5,000 ,
