Recognised as a Top Performing Lodge as Reviewed by Travellers on the World’s Largest Travel Site

Akagera National Park today announced that Ruzizi Tented Lodge has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The award, now in its fifth year, celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve top reviews on TripAdvisor.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honourees that takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews and opinions submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period as well as business’s tenure and ranking on the Popularity Index on the site. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge has received 65 reviews since it officially opened in early 2013. 54 of those receiving the top 5-star rating and no reviews below 4-star. Recent guests had these comments to make:

"Add this to your Itinerary… We stayed here for 2 nights in April and the only problem we had was that it wasn't long enough… Simply a must.”

"Paradise… The setting amazing in the south of Akagera National Park… Food is GREAT. Staff very welcoming…”

"We are very proud of Ruzizi Tented Lodge and appreciate the guests who take the time to give us feedback on their stay. There is always room for improvement and we hope to maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves as we welcome new visitors to the lodge” Says lodge manager, Ian Munyankindi.

As a park owned lodge, 100% of the profits go back into the management of the entire park. As well as enjoying their stay, guests can feel proud in the knowledge that they are directly contributing to the long-term sustainability of Akagera National Park funding law enforcement activities, community engagement and conservation initiatives. The initial success of the lodge led to the addition of a family tent and a luxury Tree Top Tent in 2014. These have been well received and contributed to the status of the lodge as a valuable addition to the tourism industry in Rwanda.
