Lions roaming free at Majete after 30-year absence
1 minute read
On Saturday, 25 August three lions from South Africa – Sapitwa, Chimwala and Shire - were successfully released into the wild at Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi, transforming the reserve into a fully-fledged Big Five destination. After a 30-year absence, the introduction of lions to Majete represents the final step in the ten-year programme to rehabilitate and restock this once depleted reserve and should significantly boost Majete’s attraction as a wildlife destination.
