Elephant birth at Zakouma

First elephant calf born at Zakouma since African Parks assumed management

Zakouma management team spotted their first baby elephant from the air, nestling in the midst of the 450-strong herd. This is the first elephant calf born at Zakouma since we assumed management. Until now we have been concerned at the absence of calves, which is attributable to the elephants' enormously stressful circumstances. We are pleased to be able to celebrate the birth of a new generation and are more committed than ever to ensuring that Zakouma's elephants flourish.
