Institutional Funding

Institutional funders are essential to African Parks’ ability to deliver conservation outcomes that contribute to global priorities. Multi-year grants from government and multilateral agencies enable us to manage some of the most biodiverse and climate-critical landscapes on the continent, while supporting the people who depend on them.

This support directly advances shared global goals — including the 30x30 biodiversity target, climate mitigation and adaptation, carbon-rich ecosystem protection, sustainable livelihoods, and regional stability. By securing ecological integrity and strengthening community resilience, institutional funding helps position Africa’s protected areas as engines for long-term environmental and socio-economic progress.

These investments make it possible to:

  • Protect ecosystems that sustain people’s lives. Healthy landscapes support water security, soil fertility, food systems, and local economies. Institutional funding helps maintain these life-supporting services in places where communities are most vulnerable to environmental change.
  • Strengthen community resilience to climate and economic shocks. Support for climate-smart livelihoods, education, and essential infrastructure gives families more stability and better options for the future, especially in remote and underserved regions.
  • Create safer, more stable environments. By improving governance, supporting fair and consistent law enforcement, and offering alternative opportunities for youth and households, African Parks contributes to safer communities and more predictable social environments.
  • Ensure that long-term conservation benefits are shared. Institutional funding allows African Parks to work hand-in-hand with local leaders, ensuring that communities receive tangible benefits from parks — from employment to infrastructure, training, and social services.

We partner with institutions that share our ambition to scale impact across Africa and contribute to a more sustainable and secure future. To explore opportunities for collaboration through multi-year strategic funding partnerships, please contact Aziza Buka: [email protected]
