Mr Thierry HITIMANA, prior to joining NMC, was working for the Rwanda Development Board as the Tourism Warden in Nyungwe National Park and he also worked in the hospitality industry for more than 21 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in travel and tourism management. Thierry was flown to South Africa to learn the best practices in tourism planning, development and management at Southern African Wildlife College, Mpumalanga District. He has attended several workshops and training in tourism management, birds’ identification and nature interpretation, plants, wildfire fire Management and, customer services, first aid and tourists’ empathy, and he is certified as an interpretive guide and trainer by the National Association for Interpretation (NAI), an American Professional Training Institution. His performance was commendable by RDB, which decided to vertically promote him from the position of the Guide that he served for a decade and became the Tourism Warden. This position allowed Mr Thierry to perform his assignments at a high level and participate in many events of Visit Rwanda showcasing the beauty of Nyungwe National Park and the country, and was recognised and awarded by RDB for being the top staff performer for two successive years(2017&2018).
