Born in Edinburgh in 1945 and educated in Business Administration and Marketing. Worked in the Retail industry before moving to Malawi in 1974 as Marketing and Training Manager for the Import and Export Company of Malawi. Moved to Guthrie Malawi as Chief Executive of two of their operation divisions in 1978 and stayed there until 1989. Started own trading business same year and acquired Farmers Organization in 1991 with two business partners. Run the Company for 24 years as Managing Director and acquired majority shareholding in 2008. Sold the Company in 2015 to a South African Public Company. Stayed on as MD for 30 months and then retired. Now a non- Executive Director. Also non- executive Director of Continental Asset Management and Continental Pension Services Company Ltd. Was a member of Endangered Species of Malawi (originally J&B Circle) from 1994 to 2014 which was responsible for the reintroduction of Black Rhino into Liwonde National Park Malawi. This was a voluntary association which managed the Black Rhino Sanctuary in Liwonde. Joined African Parks Majete as Board Director in 2003, appointed Vice Chairman 2005 and became Chairman of the Board in 2008 until present date. Joined the Board of Directors of Honey with Heart 2020.
