Jonas Abana Eriksson

Jonas Eriksson was born in Sweden but grew up in the Central Congo basin, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has worked in conservation related fields for his entire professional career. Jonas has a Master in tropical wildlife ecology. His research was on the bonobo (chimpanzee) in DRC. Realizing the need to protect and manage these sensitive ecosystems and wanting to influence on a larger scale, he moved to working with conservation NGOs.

Jonas has been with African Parks since the fall of 2019 and he spent the first five years with AP in Odzala National Park, Republic of Congo.  He joined the ENCR team as the Conservation Manager in the beginning of 2025, deciding to take the exciting opportunity to learn and work in a different ecosystem and culture than the tropical Congo Basin.
