JP has been working in Akagera National Park since January 2016. He began his career as an intern at the park-operated Lodge, Ruzizi Tented Lodge, and quickly rose through the ranks working in positions including café attendant and receptionist at the park reception. In July 2018, he was appointed as Deputy Tourism and Marketing Manager. In this role, he managed the park’s marketing and communication activities, conducts behind the scenes tours explaining Akagera’s conservation story to tourists, accounting, and reporting of tourism statistics. He is involved in the management of Akagera’s Public relations and media, digital marketing platforms such social media, newsletter and assists in the management of tourism staff and assets. He collaborated closely with key stakeholders such as the Rwandan Development Board Tourism and Conservation Department, Rwanda Tours and Travel Association, as well as Safari Guides Associations. Through these collaborations, he ensured seamless coordination and alignment of efforts towards promoting sustainable tourism practices in Akagera National Park. From January 2025, JP was promoted to the position of Funding and Reporting Manager for Akagera.

From May 2022 to December 2023, JP had the privilege of working with Nyungwe National Park, where he played a key role in developing impactful marketing and communication strategies. His efforts culminated in a comprehensive guiding document that shaped the park’s communication plan in alignment with AP SOPs. This experience not only enhanced his strategic thinking but also deepened his commitment to promoting environmental sustainability.

During his tenure with Akagera Management Company and African Parks, JP has further honed his expertise through various professional development courses, including Hospitality Management at e-Cornell University, the Business and Management Development Programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, the Manager’s Toolkit at Frontera Management Solutions, and the Inspiring Managers Programme offered by the African Management Institute. Additionally, he has participated in training focused on product development, and digital marketing and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources Management, while also enhancing his writing and content creation skills through Coursera.
