Jannie’s career in Sao Tome and Principe included managing an aviation company from start-up and the development of the first luxury Boutique plantation hotel on the island of Principe. After 14 years on the Islands, Jannie’s career took him to Gabon where his involvement as a special advisor to the CEO with the Gabonese Parks board let to the rekindling of wildlife tourism in Loango National Park. After joining the Gabonese Sovereign Fund as Director of Operations for their tourism development company, he played a pivotal role in the growth of conservation-based tourism including the creation of a successful destination management company and the construction, opening and management of various camps in Gabon’s National Parks. Jannie’s career features the commercial development of Gabon’s first habituated Western Lowland Gorilla project for tourism, the facilitation of various research and conservation projects and the development of successful community-based tourism projects. Jannie holds a National Diploma in Hotel Management and completed a Tourism Master’s certificate with Cornell University. He joined African Parks in April 2024 as Park Manager for Boma National Park.
