Erik is a Swedish national but was born in the Central African Republic (CAR). He spent the majority of his life in CAR, and went on to found and manage a safari company in the east of the country for just under a decade. He was one of the original founding members of the Chinko Project, in the same region of eastern CAR, which is now managed by African Parks. Erik went on to spend four years managing parks with African Parks, including Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of Congo and Garamba National Park in north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). From there, Erik moved to the position of Regional Operations Manager for West Africa and was leading African Parks operations in Benin for four years. Erik is currently the Central African Regional Operations Manager with AP, overseeing Odzala in Congo, Chinko in CAR and Ennedi as well as the Greater Zakouma Ecosystem in Chad.
