Dr Angela Gaylard is Head of Biodiversity & Science Support at African Parks. In this role, she provides technical oversight and support for the use of evidence to inform conservation management across the organisation’s portfolio of protected areas. Her work focuses on developing and improving decision‑making frameworks, analytical tools, and adaptive management processes, as well as facilitating planning for a range of conservation interventions, and working closely with conservation managers to ensure that data, monitoring, and research are useful at the operational level. She also oversees African Parks’ research partnerships with academic institutions, with an emphasis on building local capacity and aligning research with on‑the‑ground conservation needs. Angela has three decades of experience working at the science–management interface and has been with African Parks since 2018.
