Christian Triay is Legal Counsel for the African Parks Network, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to joining African Parks, Christian practised law in his native Gibraltar at his family’s legal practice, Triay Lawyers Ltd, focusing on dispute resolution and maritime law. Christian graduated from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom with an LLB (Hons) in Law before obtaining a Masters LLM in Shipping Law from the University of Cape Town. Christian then qualified as a UK solicitor with Clyde & Co LLP. He has also since obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health from the University of Edinburgh.

Christian has always been passionate about Africa, its people, and its wildlife. In 2016, Christian co-founded the African Forest Elephant Foundation and has worked as Oiled Wildlife Response Manager for the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB). Christian currently serves as interim director on the African Parks UK board of trustees.
