African Parks at COP16
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. African Parks manages 22 protected areas in 12 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Our goal is to manage 30 parks by 2030, the geographic spread of protected areas and representation of different ecoregions makes this the largest and most ecologically diverse portfolio of parks under management by any one NGO on the continent.

Our Latest Work
Verifiable Nature Unit; A new currency for nature. African Parks has developed an approach for an outcomes-based financing mechanism; the VNU. The primary objective of these VNUs is to ensure that nature conservation and restoration becomes a viable, scalable and competitive form of land use.
Rhino Rewild; African Parks is now the official custodian of 2,000 southern white rhino, with one, clear intent: to rewild these rhinos over the next ten years. Our vision is to translocate them to multiple well-managed protected areas across Africa, establishing or supplementing strategic populations, helping to secure the future of the species across Africa.
The Great Nile Migration; The Largest Land Mammal Migration on Earth. South Sudan plays host to one of nature's most spectacular events: the Great Nile Migration, the largest land mammal migration on Earth. The Boma Badingilo Jonglei Landscape (BBJL) in the southeast of South Sudan, is the setting for this incredible journey, which sees the seasonal movement of approximately six million antelope, including white-eared kob, Mongalla gazelle, tiang and reedbuck which migrate across the landscape into Gambella National Park in Ethiopia every year.
