Regional Management
Combining his interests in Geographic Information System (GIS) and wildlife Mathias researched the geospatial ecology of Kordofan Giraffe in Garamba National Park, D.R. Congo. After finishing his MSc in Biology Mathias joined African Parks in 2018, where he helped convert Garamba’s control room from a Google Earth-based system to a versatile esri-based solution, making use of dashboards, digital surveys and automated data flows. After gaining experience working as a GIS consultant Mathias re-joined African Parks and worked in Odzala National Park (Republic of Congo) and the Chinko Conservation Area in the Central African Republic. He now works as the Regional Technology Manager for the Central Africa Region.
