Babakar was born in Haraze Mangueigne adjacent to Zakouma National Park in 1960 where he also attended school before attending college in Am Timam. Babakar furthered his tertiary education in N’Djamena where he eventually qualified as a Water and Forestry Engineer in 1992 specialised in ecology and natural resources management. Babakar has more than 15 years’ experience in the field of forest development and inventories, management of protected areas, rural animation, formulation and management projects and training of the target groups on various topics. In May 2009 Babakar started his employment in Zakouma as the Project Coordinator for the EU funded CURESS II project and was appointed as the Community Coordinator by African Parks in February 2011. Since January 2012 Babakar has been appointed as the Assistant Park Manager for Zakouma National Park and Head of the Community Management Department. From 2020 he became the Deputy Park Manager.
