Rwandan Nationals Received FREE Entry to Akagera National Park Over 4 Days in November 2014

1 minute read

Rwandan nationals were offered free entry to Akagera for a 4-day period in late November in order to raise awareness of conservation issues and Akagera’s developments, and as part of the parks’ 80th Anniversary celebrations.

The park was proclaimed a National Park on 26th November 1934, so for the 4-day period beginning 26th November up to 29th November 2014, Rwandan nationals were encouraged to visit Akagera and take advantage of the free access in order to witness, first hand, the beauty of their natural heritage. 399 nationals took advantage of the offer and visited during the 4-day period.

Already 50% of the parks visitors are Rwandan nationals, demonstrating the extent to which Akagera is a source of national pride. Around 11,000 Rwandan nationals have visited Akagera so far this year and we look forward to seeing this number grow.
