Today, Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and its surrounds can boast renovated lodges and campsites that welcome visitors in increasing numbers. In 2022, revenue generated from entry fees and other tourism-associated activities reported a 100% increase from the previous year, and some 3,000 visitors, both international and local, enjoyed the reserve.
A Youth Hostel was completed in June 2022 with senior chiefs from Bangweulu Wetlands as the first guests in the 32-bed tented facility. Livezi Wilderness Camp, another self-catering option, is planned to open in 2023/2024.
