Law Enforcement

Wildlife within Kafue National Park and surrounding Game Management Areas is under threat from poaching, human encroachment, expanding agriculture and charcoal production. Initiating effective law enforcement as a matter of high priority, African Parks has embarked on training and equipping law enforcement officers and additional scout teams to effectively patrol the park. Much needed infrastructure for park management has been put in place, including a state-of the-art Law Enforcement Centre and the introduction of  EarthRanger as an effective law enforcement management tool. An aerial unit has also been established with an ultralight aircraft for surveillance and a helicopter for emergency responses and deployments into remote and inaccessible areas.
