Torsten has been active in Odzala since 2008 and long before his appointment with AP for his studies on spotted hyenas in Odzala’s forest-savannah mosaic. He also worked in Borneo, where he led a field study on the critically endangered Eastern Sumatran rhino on behalf of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), Germany. Further work experience with IZW includes research on cheetahs in Namibia. Amongst others, Torsten also led a field study to assess mammal diversity in the Batéké Plateaux region in southeast Gabon in collaboration with The Aspinall Foundation’s Projet Protection des Gorilles - Gabon. In Odzala, Torsten is responsible for implementation and management of monitoring activities and research projects.
