Erik is a Swedish national but was born in the Central African Republic (CAR). He spent the majority of his life in CAR, and went on to found and manage a safari company in the east of the country for just under a decade. He was one of the original founding members of the Chinko Project, in the same region of eastern CAR, which is now managed by African Parks. Erik went on to spend four years managing parks with African Parks (2014 to 2018), including Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of Congo and Garamba National Park in north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He has extensive bush and conservation knowledge as well as a comprehensive understanding of the modern conservation challenges facing Africa, particularly central Africa. Erik is currently the West African Regional Operations Manager with AP, overseeing the Odzala-Kokoua-Lossi Foundation in Congo, the Chinko Natural Reserve in Central African Republic, and W and Pendjari National Park in Benin. Erik joined Odzala Board in 2019.
