Raised across the African continent, he has worked on applied conservation projects throughout South Africa, as well as in Zambia and Malawi, including Kasanka and Liwonde National Parks, where he tasked with erecting the electric fence around the Park, training teams to manage maintenance, construction and basic Law-Enforcement support as well as mitigate significant Human/Elephant-conflict. In Pendjari, Benin, he was responsible for the management of construction, infrastructure, technology, workshops and equipment, logistics and purchasing as well as aviation focusing on more practical aspects of conservation management, such as burn programs and fire response. Bastiaan recently moved to Iona National Park, Angola, where he is now the Field Operations Manager.
